Dido and Aeneas is an ancient and tragic story of love and loss featuring magic and mayhem. It tells of Dido’s love for Aeneas, her psychological decline and tragic end, all set to wonderful music by the English Baroque composer Henry Purcell.
Sung throughout, this fully staged production in the Lens Studio of Portsmouth Guildhall is set in the 1920s. It stars Ciara White (Dido) alongside a student company and a chorus of more than 80 singers. Marking 60 years of the University of Portsmouth Choir, this will be a feast of song and dance that ultimately tugs at the heartstrings.
