Start Time: 7.30pm
Overlooking the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles’ Sunset Strip, Laurel Canyon hosted a community of musicians through the 1960’s and 70’s forming a hive of creativity in the age of hippies and flower power. Among Laurel Canyon’s residents were the likes of Neil Young, James Taylor, The Byrds. The Mamas & The Papas, Eagles, The Doors and Joni Mitchell.
Performed by a live 6-piece band with vocals, in the first half of this concert you will hear music from the artists listed above as well as many other Laurel Canyon residents during this time.
In the second half, we will perform in its entirety Carole King’s 1971 masterpiece Tapestry. Of all the albums released at this time in the Laurel Canyon community, Tapestry, arguably, sums up this counterculture best. It is a statement of togetherness, love in all its forms, feminism and endless hope for the future.
