Wall of Fame Check out the list of stars we have inducted into our prestigious Wall of Fame Portsmouth Guildhall The Guildhall Wall of Fame is a space where we recognise and celebrate contributions of individuals to the music industry and the Portsmouth Guildhall. Jools Holland Inducted 23rd November 2019. Composer, pianist, bandleader and broadcaster Jools Holland started out playing pubs in the East End docks before going on to lead his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra and sell millions of records worldwide. Jimmy James Inducted 15th June 2018. Jimmy & his Ska band, The Vagabonds, first appeared at the Birdcage Club in 1965. Following the much-loved club’s relocation to Eastney, the band played there a further 29 times in just 2 years. Joe Jackson Inducted in May in 2018. Celebrated musician and author Joe Jackson is a Grammy-winning composer, singer, pianist and graduate of the Royal Academy of Music. Paul Jones Inducted in December 2017, Paul Jones is one of the finest musicians to have originated from the city with a music career spanning over 50 years. Shulman Brothers Inducted August 2017. 'Simon Dupree and the Big Sound’ and ‘Gentle Giant’, formed by the Portsmouth based Shulman brothers in 1966 which was then signed to Parlophone Records and toured extensively across the UK and Europe Steve Hackett Inducted May 2017 in recognition of his contribution to music, through a career spanning almost five decades. Hackett’s work encompasses many styles including blues, world and classical music in addition to progressive rock. The Osmonds Inducted on 18th December 2016 for contribution to music. The Osmonds began their career in 1958; the brothers became regulars on the Andy Williams show between 1962 to 1969. Julia Fordham Inducted 27th November 2016. Julia Fordham is a British singer-songwriter. Her professional career started in the early 1980's as a backing singer for Mari Wilson and Kim Wilde. Mark King Mark King of Level 42 was inducted into the Portsmouth Guildhall’s Wall of Fame on Tuesday18th October 2016 in recognition of his contribution to music and entertainment. Mark and Level 42 have sold 31 million albums to date worldwide with multiple hit singles including Lessons in Love. Spike Edney Inducted on 8th December 2015. Queen’s keyboard player Spike Edney, is one of the most respected and versatile session musicians and musical directors in the business. John Mayall Inducted 20th November 2014. John Mayall, OBE is an English blues singer, guitarist, organist and songwriter, whose musical career spans over sixty years. Mick Jones Inducted on Wednesday 9th April 2014. Mick is the founder of and architect behind Foreigner’s extraordinary catalogue of smash hits and has crafted some of rock music’s most enduring songs.
