Having stood proudly at the heart of the community since 1881, Portsmouth Guildhall is now embarking on an ambitious programme of Renaissance to ensure the building continues to thrive for another 130 years, becoming one of the leading cultural organisations in the country and continuing to provide inspiring, engaging, sustainable, relevant, and accessible opportunities in the beating heart of this historic city.

Our ambitions for the Guildhall rely on the generosity of the public, businesses as well as trusts and foundations who share our vision and commitment to this exciting project to create a Guildhall we can all be proud of and enjoy for years to come.

Guildhall Studio

The introduction of new, innovative and dynamic strands of programming into our Guildhall Studio space, a bright and contemporary cultural hub in the heart of Portsmouth.

The championing of emerging artists by providing a platform for guidance, rehearsal, growth, progress and experience.

The development of our extensive outreach programme of workshops, activities, groups and courses supporting schools and the community.

Our ‘Tickets for the Community’ scheme, providing the opportunity for socially and economically disadvantaged people to attend live performances.

Your Gift to us as a Renaissance Patron Will Support:

The Renaissance of Portsmouth Guildhall

An ambitious project to restore and redevelop the building and to preserve the heritage of the Guildhall for future generations. The redevelopment will deliver a stunning side extension; the Pavilion, introducing new restaurant, café and bar facilities to revitalise Guildhall Square.

The refurbished venue will also provide more comfortable seating, an air cooling system, new bar facilities, renovated toilets, improved access and usability of spaces, an updated interior and new exhibition and gallery spaces. The redevelopment will ensure the sustainability of the building.
