Insight into the cultural sector – career advice and how to get started!

Our incredibly successful roadshow for school years 8-11 has been running for 3 years. Please keep an eye out here for future dates.

The Creative Careers Roadshow provides an opportunity for young people to gain an insight into careers in the creative industries; the broad range of opportunities available, routes into the sector and support available in the region.

This interactive presentation takes place in school time – lasting an hour + questions, on school premises; our experienced presenters will come to you, talking to students you feel will benefit the most. The event includes:

– What do you think a creative career is? An introduction to different creative careers. Through a series of short videos, discussions will be initiated around opportunities available in different cultural establishments.

– What skills and attributes do you need for the jobs? Talking about transferable skills, what skills young people already have and what they perhaps need to develop.

– What options are available on the journey to securing a job? Presenters will talk about routes into the careers with a look towards Apprenticeships, FE & HE options and talk about work experience/ volunteering that students could be undertaking, signposting to further resources.

– Teachers will receive a pack, detailing material covered and enabling them to deliver a practical workshop which covers aspiration building and encouraging students to think about potential creative careers.
