Meet the Team - Gemma Rigby
Gemma Rigby
Senior Conference & Events Coordinator The Guildhall Trust
What is your role within Portsmouth Guildhall, and what are your main responsibilities?
I am the Senior Conference & Events Coordinator at the Portsmouth Guildhall. My role is to assist with all areas of the Conference & Events department. I work with customers from their initial enquiry through to the event date.
How long have you been working at Portsmouth Guildhall?
I have been here for 7 & a half years
What initially attracted you to working in the conferences and events industry?
I have worked in hospitality since I was 18 and my role evolved over the years from working in operations to the role I am doing now. I love working within a customer focussed role, as I enjoy helping people and working with them ensure their event runs smoothly
What do you enjoy most about being part of the team at Portsmouth Guildhall?
The Portsmouth Guildhall is a very special place to work. We have an incredible team, who all bring so much to the venue and really are the heart behind all that happens here
What was the most challenging moment you faced working at Portsmouth Guildhall?
As with most people in events the time during Covid was a difficult time. Things changed so quickly and it wasn’t an easy time to be working with in the events industry! But we pulled together and kept the venue going and our customers happy and safe and I was grateful when we were able to bring events to the Portsmouth Guildhall again.
What has been your most memorable moment or achievement in your career?
I have had some incredible highlights over the years! I can’t pick just one but I am so grateful for all the opportunities that I have had since joining the Guildhall family and the growth within myself over the past 7 years within my role.
What time did you leave the Guildhall Team Christmas party?
I love our Christmas party and was happily dancing away until 2am!
Who would you take to live with you on planet Mars if you could only take two people?
I’d take my partner and our daughter! I’d also have to bring some animals too, so that we had company while we were there!
