Two spectacular concerts just announced.
It has today been announced that two spectacular outdoor concerts featuring the full Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra will take place in Portsmouth’s Guildhall Square on 1st and 2nd August 2025!
On Friday 1st August, a John Williams: The Master extravaganza will feature some of the legendary Composer’s most beloved music from the big screen classics Star Wars, Jurassic Park, JFK, Jaws, Saving Private Ryan, Schindler’s List, ET and many, many more.
Then on Saturday 2nd August, you can boogie the night away as an ABBA Symphonic Spectacular brings Guildhall Square to life with a celebration of the Swedish pop superstars featuring all the hits from Waterloo and Mamma Mia to Gimme, Gimme, Gimme and Dancing Queen.
With a party atmosphere guaranteed, both nights are sure to end with a fantastic finale!

Presented by The Guildhall Trust in partnership with Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, the symphonic spectacular events in the square are an exciting development in the special and long-standing relationship between the two organisations. Having performed the first concert inside Portsmouth Guildhall after it was re-opened by HM Queen Elizabeth II in 1959, it will be a magnificent spectacle to experience live outdoor symphonic concerts with the venue a befitting and stunning backdrop.
CEO of The Guildhall Trust, Andy Grays, said “These two spectacular concerts featuring the BSO, will be one of the first ticketed events in Guildhall Square, and we’re excited about the prospect of making full use of the Square set against the backdrop of our own Guildhall’.
Chief Executive Officer of the BSO, Dougie Scarfe OBE, said “The BSO has been playing concerts at Portsmouth Guildhall for over 70 years, but this will be the first time that the Orchestra has performed in Guildhall Square. We are really looking forward to working with the Guildhall team to stage what will be a stupendous weekend of symphonic concerts.”
