Takedown Festival is coming to Portsmouth Guildhall...

The South’s fan and band favourite independent alternative-rock and metal festival is making its return to the festival scene on Saturday 8th April 2023 with a mind-blowing line-up that screams “we’re back!”

In its new home of Portsmouth Guildhall, an electrifying line-up will see heavy hitters of the rock and metal worlds perform featuring the anonymous, masked rock collective, SLEEP TOKEN and one of the most devastating and enthralling live bands on the plant, SKINDRED as the festival’s headliners.
Other bands set to perform include Loathe, Jamie Lenman, Punk Rock Factory, InMe, Palm Reader, Our Hollow Our Home, As December Falls, CLTDRP, Fearless Vampire Killers, The Bottom Line, Seething Akira, Dendera and many more with the stage line-ups now released and available to view online.

A range of VIP package upgrades are also available that include early access to the site, VIP seating, viewing areas and a VIP bar, merch and access to a VIP Lounge that will host exclusive stripped back performances from many of bands including headliner, Skindred.

After an eight year hiatus, the much-loved Takedown Festival has moved from Southampton University to the larger Portsmouth Guildhall with an outdoor stage also being created to guarantee a full day of festival fun for Takedowners.

In a new partnership between Divergent Festivals and The Guildhall Trust, Takedown Festival is definitely back with a bang and set to grow to one of the biggest rock events in the calendar.

Co-Directors of Divergent Festivals, Kai and Sarah Harris said, “The response we have had since announcing the return of Takedown Festival back in November has been fantastic! With the biggest line-up Takedown has ever seen, people are so excited for one of the best loved one-day events on the South coast. Remaining tickets are going fast so we urge everyone to get on it now so you don’t miss out on what is sure to be the highlight of the Bank Holiday weekend”.

Chief Executive Officer of The Guildhall Trust, Andy Grays said “We are delighted to be bringing an alternative rock and metal festival to Portsmouth with a great calibre of artists. Portsmouth has a fantastic music scene, but we felt there was a gap for fans of this genre. As a cultural management who specialises in events, we are excited to add Takedown Festival to our portfolio which also includes Portsmouth Comic Con, Dance Live! and Guildhall Games Fest.”

Also recently announced is a partnership between Takedown Festival and Tonic Music for Mental Health who will provide mental health support for artists, crew and staff through its back stage Tonic Rider programme and support for festival attendees with a ‘Never Mind the Stigma’ stand offering information.
