A Free Family Fun Day for all at Portsmouth Guildhall this summer!
Portsmouth Guildhall is throwing open its doors on Saturday 14th August, 11am – 5pm, to welcome people back into the city’s premier Concert and Events venue and give a sample of some of the performances, activities and workshops that the venue and its creative partners have to offer throughout 2021/22, and to celebrate the city’s creative economy.
SAMPLED, a FREE event, will offer something for everyone including live music from LMSUK Media, the chance to get creative in a craft & design workshop with The Maker’s Guild, circus skills with The Parenting Network and a samba workshop with UVG – The Urban Vocal Group.
In a taster of the Guildhall’s Games Fest and Portsmouth Comic Con events, there will be the opportunity to play new and retro board and computer games with partners Dice and Game Over and the chance to meet some of your favourite superheroes and characters with GoGeek Events.
If you’ve always wanted to be the star of the show, now is your chance as you can take your selfie stood on the Guildhall stage or join the technical team and have a go at working the lights and sound!
For those keen to find out more about the history of the Guildhall and Portsmouth’s music scene, the venue’s exhibitions Portsmouth Music Experience and Discovering the Guildhall will reopen with tours and talks also available.
Home to over 15 businesses on the upper floors, including the Guildhall Trust’s Headstart Creatives initiative to support creative businesses in Portsmouth following the pandemic, this is your chance to meet some of the city’s most exciting start-ups and see what they do.
The Guildhall has also teamed up with Portsmouth Creates following their hugely popular ‘We Create’ markets in the former Debenhams store in Southsea to offer a Mini Pop-Up Market to offer wider support to creatives in our city as restrictions begin to lift.
And if your thoughts are turning to future occasions and celebrations, the venue’s Conferencing and Events team will also be on hand with sample Wedding and Christmas Party Night set ups to discuss your requirements and save your date!
With refreshments available from the Guildhall’s Square Kitchen Café, SAMPLED is your chance to enjoy some FREE fun and entertainment, meet the team, get to know what’s happening at your Guildhall and show your support for the city’s vibrant creative sector.
