After what has been one of the most challenging years in the history of Portsmouth Guildhall and for us all, the Big Mouth Comedy Festival is set to return on Friday 3rd & Saturday 4th September 2021, marking the start of what will be a packed Autumn/Winter season of events at the city’s iconic venue.

Following an inevitable hiatus in 2020, Big Mouth is back with the finest in live stand-up and the best of the fringe – 2 days of laughter that is guaranteed to put a smile back on your face!

Single tickets for the daily sessions are available or grab yourself a Full Festival ticket for unlimited access both days.

The already cracking line-up, including Nabil Abdulrashid, Suzi Ruffell, Paul McCaffrey and Charlie Baker offers something for everyone with even more names and surprises to be announced soon!

With Portsmouth Guildhall’s ‘Book with Confidence Guarantee’ available on this event, you don’t need to worry if Covid gets in the way of your plans. If you’re not able to attend due to Covid-19 (if you have tested positive for or have symptoms of Covid-19, are required to self-isolate or if the event is cancelled or rescheduled) you will be offered your money back or a ticket exchange if you’d prefer.

Top billing for a fun night out…

Nabil Abdulrashid – finalist of ITV’s 2020 series of Britain’s Got Talent. A unique and exciting comedian, writer, presenter and actor whose hilarious take on global politics and multicultural society earned him the Joe.co.uk TV Comedian of the Year Award 2020 and was listed as one of The Guardian’s 10 Best Comedy Shows.

Suzi Ruffell – Portsmouth’s very own working-class comedian of her generation. With five sell-out runs at the Edinburgh Festival, Suzi is best known for her appearances on Live at the Apollo, Mock the Week and The Jonathan Ross Show, a regular on BBC Radio 4’s The News Quiz and host of new BBC Radio 2 show, Explicable Me and much more!

Michael Odewale – As seen on Mock the Week (BBC2), Michael was nominated for Best Newcomer at the 2019 Dave Edinburgh Comedy Awards for his award-winning debut show #BlackBearsMatter. His recent TV appearances include Jonathan Ross’ Comedy Club (ITV), The Stand Up Sketch Show (ITV) and Chris Ramsey’s Stand Up Central (Comedy Central).

And your host for the evening is Sophie Duker!
A comedian and writer whose favourite things include breaking hearts, taking names and telling jokes with the confidence of a cis straight middle-class white man. Sophie has appeared on 8 out of 10 Cats, Mock the Week, Don’t Hate the Playaz and her Edinburgh Fringe show Venus, saw her nominated for the Best Newcomer Award.

Charlie Baker – “A superior take on the modern showman” with his versatile talents as a stand-up comic, actor and highly acclaimed jazz singer! His appearances include The Last Leg, Harry Hill’s Teatime, The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice, Never Mind the Buzzcocks and comic roles in Four Weddings and a Funeral, Back, The IT Crowd and Miranda.

Paul McCaffrey – An award-winning comedian (Latitude and London Paper’s New Act of the Year) who headlines the biggest comedy clubs in the country and has recently completed tours with Sean Lock and Kevin Bridges and two solo tours of his own. Having appeared on Impractical Jokers (BBC3), Russell Howard’s Good News and Stand Up Central (Comedy Central), Paul made his debut on BBC’s Live at the Apollo in 2019.

Nathan Caton – Back by popular demand after his performance at Big Mouth in 2018, Nathan’s charismatic and laid back style of stand up with his award-winning combination of personal and topical anecdotes has led to appearances on Live at the Apollo, Mock the Week, Don’t Hate the Playaz, Comedy Gala and his own series Gran Jury.

Marlon Davis – A talented comedian, improviser and actor whose act is inspired by his upbringing, exploring urban Britain and tackling its social issues with skilful characterisations. His recent TV appearances include BBC’s Live at the Apollo and Comedy Central’s Comedy Store Live and Marlon has supported Kevin Bridges, Michael McIntyre and Alan Carr on tour.

Ali Cook – Post Sadowitz, Ali Cook is the only UK magician to write and perform his own stand-up material in between contemporary magic effects. Internationally renowned magician, comedian and actor, Ali’s unique mix of stand-up and magic has made him a headliner on the UK comedy circuit and he has had a sell-out tour, critically acclaimed shows at Edinburgh Festival and written and starred in 7 British TV series.

Travis Jay – Nominated for The Leicester Mercury Comedian of the year in 2016, Travis Jay is a stand-up comedian, actor and radio presenter who has been performing on the comedy circuit since 2009. A creative, animated, and intelligent performer, Travis has built a reputation as being an entertaining and sometimes controversial storyteller, performing at prestigious venues across the country.
