As part of the LOL Comedy Club shows
Fresh from his success on this year’s Britain’s Got Talent, funny man Steve Royle is announced as the Headliner for January’s Laugh Out Loud Comedy Club ‘Stars off the Telly’ night at Portsmouth Guildhall.
Demand for the finalist’s stand-up act has gone ballistic since the final this weekend which saw Royle capture the imagination of the judges and the nation with an act of four-in-one with his customary jokes, juggling, dancing and a spot of synchronised swimming! Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon were left roaring in their seats at Steve’s typically high-energy ‘big set’ which climaxed with Royle lying flat on his face joking straight to camera, “Rishi Sunak – if you’re watching this – some of us can’t possibly be retrained!”
His previous semi-final performance had seen Royle repeatedly drop and pick up bowling balls whilst referencing the ‘virtual audience’ and explain to his father how to use technology, before he was hit by one of the balls which caused him to fall off the stage!
The brilliantly funny comedian, actor, writer, juggler and radio presenter has previously completed his own sell-out tour ‘Steve Royle Comedy Extravaganza’, worked as a support for Peter Kay and Steve Coogan, is a regular on Dave Spikey’s ‘Living the Dream’ tour, starred in ‘Phoenix Nights’ and ‘Max & Paddy’s Road to Nowhere’ and is a warm up for several TV shows and once even The Royal Variety Performance.
Royle is one of four top comedians that will take to the mic on Saturday 30th January 2021 as part of the ‘Stars Off the Telly’ night, with the remaining line-up set to be announced soon for what promises to be an evening of safe and fun times!
The January LOL Comedy Club night is the third in the series of the new, monthly ‘Stars Off the Telly’ nights which start at the Guildhall this November 28th with the inaugural line-up featuring Stephen K. Amos (Multi, international award-winner whose credits include ‘Have I Got News For You’, ‘Live at the Apollo’ and ‘Mock The Week’), Adam Bloom (‘The Young Person’s Guide to Becoming a Rock Star’, ‘Never Mind the Buzzcocks’ and ‘Mock the Week’), Pat Monahan (Winner of ITV’s ‘Show Me the Funny’ and has appeared on numerous TV shows across the Beeb, ITV, Channel 4 and 5, and Sky) and Luke Honnoraty who has supported some of the biggest names in the industry including Russell Kane and Katherine Ryan.
Portsmouth Guildhall is ‘Good to Go’ having successfully achieved the Industry Standard Mark of Visit Britain which demonstrates that the venue is adhering to Government and Public Health guidance, has carried out all necessary risk assessments and has the required processes in place.
