The Guildhall Trust is delighted to welcome much-loved TV personality; Fred Dinenage MBE, as a Patron of the Trust and advocate for the Renaissance of Portsmouth Guildhall.
Recently celebrating his 55th Anniversary with ITV, Fred has presented a number of shows including Tell the Truth, World of Sport, Coast to Coast, How and its successor, How 2 and since 2009 has co-anchored the region’s news programme, Meridian Tonight.
Fred’s other TV work includes the hosting of quiz shows; Pass the Buck (BBC) and Gambit (Anglia) and acting as team captain on ITV game show Never had it So Good. Since 2011, Fred has also presented Fred Dinenage: Murder Casebook, a crime documentary series on 20th Century murders for Sky.
Born and raised in Birmingham, Fred has developed a great love for the city of Portsmouth and as a football enthusiast was on the Board of Directors at Portsmouth FC between 1998 and 2007.
It is with this city pride that Fred is delighted to follow in the footsteps of Joanna Lumley OBE and President of the Royal Academy of Arts, Christopher Le Brun, in becoming a Patron and adding his support for the Guildhall’s plans for Renaissance stating; “With my connection to Portsmouth and a great love of the city, it is fantastic to see the proposed redevelopments for Portsmouth Guildhall and not before time. The building, which sits at the heart of the city, is so iconic and must be celebrated as a national treasure and future-proofed for generations to come. I am very proud to act as a patron for the venue and its’ Renaissance”.
To be completed in two phases over the coming years, the exciting Renaissance project of restoration and renovation supports the Trust’s vision to become one of the country’s leading cultural organisations that will inspire, entertain and transform lives. A welcoming and accessible cultural hub for the community, the project will provide improved customer facilities, dynamic social spaces and improvements to the Concert Hall and backstage areas.
Dinenage is the latest supporter of the Guildhall’s ‘Time to Make it Happen’ campaign, where members of the public are being urged to show their support to make Renaissance happen by adding their name to a growing list of supporters, demonstrating the passion that there is for the Guildhall and its future.
