TICKETS
Due to the extended measures implemented by the Government, we have been in discussion with promoters and hirers about the next steps regarding their events.
We can confirm that this performance has now been cancelled and ticket holders will be contacted with more information.
Portsmouth Chamber Music have shared a statement relating to the cancellation:
I am very sad to announce that just like our Prazak concert, the Martin Roscoe concert will also have to be cancelled.
I make the same plea again with regard to tickets: if you can afford not to claim a refund that would be very much appreciated, as I try to help Martin, and also The Guildhall Trust and Music in the Round. The response last time was overwhelming, for which I am extremely grateful.
Whether we can incorporate Martin Roscoe and the Prazak into next season remains to be seen, but I will do my best. That is taking shape at present, and I hope to have a full line-up by the end of May.
During his illustrious career, Martin Roscoe has become one of the UK’s most loved and respected pianists. With his extensive repertoire, consummate musicianship and immediate connection with audiences, he is in great demand as a concerto soloist, chamber musician and recitalist.
Martin appears regularly at Wigmore Hall and has long-standing associations with many of the UK’s leading orchestras such as the BBC Philharmonic and BBC Scottish Symphony. A prolific recording artist, Martin has a distinguished discography and is one of the most broadcast pianists on BBC radio.
Martin Roscoe is well-known to Portsmouth audiences both through solo piano recitals and through partnerships most notably with the late Peter Cropper who was the inspiration behind this series.
His programme includes another extraordinary work from that last decade of Beethoven’s life, paired with a Schubert sonata composed 18 months after Beethoven’s death, and just a couple of months before Schubert himself died. It is one of a set of three composed in September 1828 along with the great C major string quintet.
‘…the pacing, the expressive energy, the understanding of form, the tension, absolutely wonderful.’
