Performer Sarah-Louise Young (Cabaret Whore, The Showstoppers, La Soiree) has teamed up with theatremaker Russell Lucas (Warped at VAULT Festival) to explore the music and mythology of one of the most influential voices in British music.

From releasing ‘Wuthering Heights’ at the age of 19 to selling out the Hammersmith Apollo nearly forty years later, Bush has always surprised and confounded her critics.

Through it all her fans have stayed strong. Young invites you to celebrate her songs with this unique and mind-blowing show.

Harry Baker

HARRY BAKER

Mathematician-turned-World-Slam-Champion Harry Baker turns 10,000 days old, celebrating numbers, words and life itself in his spoken word comedy show.

From winning his school’s Battle of the Bands competition with a Jay-Z maths homage, to his prime number poetry TED talk being watched by millions online, Harry’s love of language and logic has got him through literal marathons, seen him rap battle in front of Ice Cube, and now has him analysing the technical accuracy of So Solid Crew’s 21 seconds.

He’s got 99 problems but maths ain’t one.

Cabaret Club - Scarlet Town

CABARET CLUB – SCARLET TOWN

Scarlet Town was formed in 2015 by a group of local musicians who have vast experience over several decades of playing and recording. The band’s sound is rather more amplified acoustic, than ‘electric’ and the material is diverse ‐ playing original material, including all the songs on their first album Dark Outside (2019), covers of songs by artists such as Joni Mitchell, Paul Simon, and Steely Dan, and traditional instrumental pieces and songs.

The band is led by songwriter and guitarist Denis Reeve‐Baker who has played for many decades with Dave Allen (vocals, harmonica) in Portsmouth based bands like Reet, Petite & Gone and the Reds. Dave Jordan is on double bass, Paul Hookham on drums, and their instrumental front‐line, their ‘SAS’, is Sue Dobbyn (tenor & soprano sax; clarinet; violin); Adam Smith (alto sax; clarinet, flute) and Sue Ryder‐Morgan (flute).

Join us in the Guildhall Studio for a fantastic night of Ska and Reggae Music featuring Maroon Town and EMiliYAH and The MightyZ All Stars!

EMiliYAH and The MightyZ All Stars – 1st Set
If you’re looking for something new in reggae yet sticks to what made reggae in the 1970s and 80s so special, then this could be band for you.

Lead singer EMiliYAH is a true vocal phenomenon and without doubt one of the most exciting new talents on the reggae scene. Never formally trained but singing from her heart always, EMiliYAH has supported names like Janet Kay, Vivian Jones, Winston Reedy, Kenny Knots, Starky Banton and Luciano to name but a few.

Stuart ‘MightyZ’ Inglis co-founded Portsmouth’s first reggae band, Sound System, back in the early 80s and supported some of the biggest names in UK reggae at the time including Winston Reedy and Talisman.

Bri Cotter (Guitar), J Sealy (Drums and Cajon), James ‘The Jazz Priest’ Richardson (Keyboards) and Clinton ‘Rock’ Jones (Lead Guitar) make up the rest of the All Stars providing a rock solid rhythm section.

Maroon Town – 2nd Set
When London based multi-racial 8-piece Maroon Town first started out 30 years ago they were the first ska band to have begun mixing ska and reggae with rap, funk and Latin/cumbia to produce a fresh new world music sound with conscious and uplifting lyrics.

Their first album and singles were produced by John Bradbury of the Specials. These recordings propelled the group to get the attention of the international music community and led to extensive touring in Europe, Japan and South America.

A long-standing relationship with the British Council saw Maroon Town perform in over 15 countries playing in theatres, festivals, schools, community centres, universities and even prisons. Their songs have been synched to major Hollywood films and they continue to provide a brilliant stage show!

Still at the cutting edge of creativity their sixth and latest album ‘Freedom Call’ released on the Spanish label ‘Brixton Records’ in 2018 blends conscious reggae, jazz, Big beat ska as well as an up-tempo ska collaboration with renowned Basque Country reggae, rock and ska singer Fermin Muguruza.

The result is a unique musical blend that has hooked fans and audiences from all over the world for over 30 years.
