SHOWS AT PORTSMOUTH GUILDHALL WILL BE BACK WITH A BANG IN 2021!

The city’s premier concert venue, Portsmouth Guildhall, announces it will be back with a bang in 2021 following extended closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

For those missing the thrill of live performance, the venue offers the best in comedy, music, dance, drama and family entertainment around, with a range of Covid Safe measures in place to ensure the wellbeing of all.

Social distancing, one way systems, staggered entry and exits, sanitisation stations, temperature checks, face coverings, to your seat service, contactless systems and a thorough cleaning regime after every performance including the use of antiviral misting on seats and carpets in the auditorium, are just some of the extensive measures that have been installed at the venue which has achieved the ‘We’re Good to Go’ Industry Standard set by Visit Britain.

While we’ve all enjoyed an abundance of online performances throughout lockdown, most would agree that nothing compares to the excitement of attending a live show and seeing your favourites in the flesh, and the Guildhall has a fantastic line-up of shows to choose from in 2021!

Kicking the year off in style, The King is Back with the ever-popular Ben Portsmouth, one of, if not the best, Elvis tribute acts in the world! Closely followed by Queen Extravaganza, The Johnny Cash Roadshow, The Simon & Garfunkel Story and an all-out guitar fest with the sounds of Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and Eddie Cochran in The Story of Guitar Heroes.

Next up, The Boys are Back in a hit-packed, pop-classic show starring the 90s sensations, 5ive, A1, Damage and 911. There is also a Sausage & Cider Festival to enjoy, Hello Again – a tribute to Neil Diamond and The Musical Box will recreate in its entirety for the final time, Genesis’ A Lamb Lies Down on Broadway – the greatest rock opera ever created.

Robin Campbell’s UB40 will return in one of their biggest ever UK tours featuring tracks from their latest album plus all the classic hits, with star of stage and screen, Jason Donovan and Milton Jones with his gloriously daft nonsense also taking to the stage.

Continuing a top season for comedy at the Guildhall, Jimmy Carr, Jason Manford and Chris Ramsey will give us all something to laugh about while music fans will not be disappointed with Jamie Cullum, The Stranglers and Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets. Music, comedy and a little bit of dance in an evening of glitz are also to be expected in The Joe & Dianne Show with Strictly finalists Joe Sugg and Dianne Buswell.

May sees the hotly anticipated return of family favourite, Portsmouth Comic Con – International Festival of Comics and the ever-dazzling Strictly Come Dancing – The Professionals, plus more comedy from Russell Howard and Paul Smith and more music from The Bootleg Beatles, Rumours of Fleetwood Mac and the legendary, five time Grammy award-winner, guitarist and singer-songwriter, Robert Cray.

A super selection of bands, artists and music for the rest of the year is already booking quickly including Elbow (sold out), Paul Weller (sold out), Belinda Carlisle, Deacon Blue, Jools Holland and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra and Abba Mania plus a night of Motown classics with The Magic of Motown, the scene of a buzzing Honky Tonk in A Country Night in Nashville, the golden age of disco with Lost in Music and Fastlove – a tribute to George Michael.

Plus more laughs are to be had with John Bishop and Mo Gilligan, dance extravaganzas with Here Come the Boys starring Strictly’s Aljaz, Pasha and Graziano and Anton & Giovanni – Him & Me, in their first tour together, before the 25th Anniversary spectacular of the Grammy award-winning production that is celebrated the world over, Riverdance!
