Terms & Conditions

Read our full Purchase Policy.

Exchange/Refunds/Alterations

Once purchased, tickets may not be exchanged or refunded. If an event is sold out, we will endeavour to re-sell these for you, but this may not always be possible.

Transaction & Administration Charges

All tickets on sale include a booking fee and Guildhall Renaissance levy.

Transaction charges contribute to our ticket retail, payment, distribution and technology expenses. Our transaction charges are calculated as 16% of the ticket value for commercial events and 10% for community events. The transaction charge is the same regardless of payment method. Our charges are in line with most other independent venues. We don’t make a profit from charges, we are a registered charity and not for profit organisation.

A £2.50 per ticket Levy is also charged which contributes to the Renaissance of Portsmouth Guildhall, which will ensure that the venue continues to thrive for future generations.

House Rules

Our House Rules are in place for the safety and wellbeing of all.

Failure to comply with our House Rules will result in access to the venue being denied or you being asked to leave the venue, and a refund will not be given.

Security & Restricted Items
Please be assured that we have stringent security measures in place which are continually reviewed to ensure the highest levels of security.

We ask for your co-operation by arriving at the venue in plenty of time for enhanced security checks and that you are patient with us while we carry out our processes. Searches may be in operation, refusal of search will result in non-admittance. Please only bring a small bag to the venue if necessary and don’t bring items which are prohibited.

Please be vigilant and report anything you are concerned about to a member of staff.
The safety and security of everyone attending the Guildhall and those that work here is our priority.

Filming & Photography
The unauthorised use of photographic and recording equipment at the venue is strictly prohibited. This includes phones, Ipads and tablets. Tapes or films may be destroyed.

Food & Drink
Your own food and drink are prohibited unless you have a health condition that requires you to have the items in question on you. Alcoholic drinks may be taken into the auditorium in plastic cups, so long as they have been purchased at one of the several bars within the venue. No chewing gum.

Smoking
Smoking real or electronic cigarettes is strictly forbidden inside the building.

Seating
There is a no standing policy in the Circle for the safety of yourself and other patrons. When attending a seated concert in the stalls please note that the act may encourage patrons to stand. If you wish to be seated throughout the concert and have a clear view throughout the performance please purchase seats in the circle.

Timing & Admittance Information
Door time refers to the time that the doors will open. Typically a show will start 30 minutes or 1 hour after the door time. Start time refers to the time the show will start. This could be a support artist or the main artist. Please arrive at the time on your ticket to ensure that you see all of the show.

Latecomers will be admitted at a suitable break in the performance unless the artist has specified differently. Please note some artists specify no admittance until the interval.

There is a strict no re-admittance policy.

Age Restrictions
Performances may have flashing lights, loud sounds and a changing atmosphere which is why we do not allow Babies in Arms/children under 2, unless the show is specifically aimed at this age group. Children over the age of 2 require a ticket for their own seat and the accompanying adult must be confident that the child is able to stay seated throughout the performance and not be a distraction to other patrons. Audience members causing a distraction will be refused entry/asked to leave. 14s and under must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over, and must be seated at standing events.

Your Tickets - Be Sure, Be Secure

Do you know where you are buying your tickets from? Be sure and be secure – we only sell tickets through our website, at the venue, through our ticketing partner EVENTIM.Inhouse and a small number of accredited ticket agents which will vary with each show.

We do not allocate tickets to secondary resale sites and you may be at risk if you do not purchase through an accredited agent.

If in doubt, please check who the accredited agents are for each show with us or the artist’s official information channels.

We want you to have a fantastic experience when you visit Portsmouth Guildhall but if you purchase through a secondary resale site or unauthorised agent we have no control over the following situations which have happened and left fans disappointed:

  • If we need to let you know important information about a show (a cancellation or reschedule etc) we only have the original ticket purchaser’s contact details so are not able to get the information to you.
  • If a show is cancelled we only have the original ticket purchaser’s payment details that we can process a refund to and we are not able to help you get a refund from where you bought your ticket.
  • Dishonest sellers have sold the same seats to the same show multiple times which has resulted in us having to refuse people access to the venue.
  • We operate a ticket scanning system at Portsmouth Guildhall and ID may be required to verify your tickets. It is important for the safety and security of all our customers and staff that we have an accurate list of who is in our venue.

It is estimated that the value of the secondary ticketing market in the UK is £1billion per year which is damaging to artists, the music and entertainment industries and drives up prices above face value for you, the fans.

Be sure – know who you are buying your tickets from!

Be secure – know that you are purchasing legitimate tickets and understand the risks you are taking if you do not purchase through an accredited seller or agent.
