Discovering the Guildhall - Volunteer Drop in Session

Monday 26 Nov 2018 - 11am - 1pm

A wonderful opportunity to volunteer on our exciting new project, Discovering the Guildhall, is now open for various roles which will involve oral history interviewers, transcribers and archive researchers, assisting with our exhibition and film making. Full training will allow volunteers to develop their skills whilst enjoying research visits to other museums including the V&A, finding friends and making an important contribution to preserve the Guildhall’s history for future generations.

A drop in session for interested volunteers is being held at Portsmouth Guildhall on Monday 26th November, between 11am and 1pm. Join the team and project partners for tea and cake and find out more about this exciting opportunity and the volunteer roles available. Pre-registering your attendance is advised (so we make sure we have enough cake!) but not essential.

Discovering the Guildhall Project Manager, Nicola Peacock, said, “We are looking for people of all ages, with or without experience in this kind of project work, to join our volunteer team and be a part of this fascinating opportunity. If you have some time you can give please come along to our drop in session or contact me to find out more. I can’t wait to hear and share people’s memories of what is such an iconic and important place in the heart of Portsmouth”.

To register your attendance for the drop in session, for an informal chat or to apply for an application form please contact nicola.peacock@portsmouthguildhall.org.uk or 023 9387 0193.

Made possible by money raised by National Lottery players, the project will engage the public to share their memories of the Guildhall and the historic events which surround it, with the project culminating in the production of a digital archive, two short documentary films and a major exhibition.
