Direct from its success in London’s West End, The Simon & Garfunkel Story is back on the road! This 50th Anniversary Celebration features a full live band performing all the hits including ‘Mrs. Robinson,’ ‘Cecilia,’ ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water,’ ‘Homeward Bound,’ and many more.

A day that explores the relationship between neurodiversity and creativity through a series of talks, demonstrations, interactions and exhibitions. This event celebrates and acknowledges Portsmouth’s unique musical influences through contemporary filters and technology, weaving together both digital and analogue sound generation.


Ever wanted to try a Theremin or beat up a book and make sound, or would like to hear your voice as you've never heard it before? These electric activities will take place between talks and video screenings, not to mention your chance to look at Jon's current exhibition- Democracy Street.


Talks

12pm-1pm
Jon Adams will be talking about what 1976 means to him including how Tangerine Dream influenced his music making as a first recognition of his synaesthesia, and in the wider context of minimalist music made by artists especially in Portsmouth.

1:30pm-2:30pm
Dave Allen will be delivering a talk around Portsmouth's Unique Musical Context.

Film Screenings:

Grey 1 & Grey 2 plus the ‘Konfirm’ documentary
These are a collaboration between Jon Adams & filmmaker Lucas Holzhauer commissioned by The Arts Catalyst London for the Welcome Trust Funded Project 'Konfirm'.
Jon was Artist in residence working in collaboration with Professor Simon Baron-Cohen, Director at the Autism Research Centre at the University of Cambridge. He was exploring his recently revealed Asperger's working in written word, photography and sound. The 2 films Grey One and Two use both Sound generated with an analogue modular synthesiser and FMRI sound samples that have been reworked plus the accompanying documentary explains this process.

Skiffle is a ‘home-made’ English music style from the 1950s, based on American blues and folk music. Come along, listen, discover the roots and history of Skiffle, and create your own music in this interactive event and performance!
