POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

On Sunday 9th October 2016 the Portsmouth Cultural Trust (the charity who manage Portsmouth Guildhall), will be holding a FREE community event within the building to promote music and education within the city.

The building will be bustling with entertainment including children’s workshops, classical recitals, a silent disco, and a talent contest for local musicians. Live Music will take over the Guildhall stage from 2pm – 8pm, embracing all music styles and ages.

Admission to the event is FREE but donations would be greatly received!

Specifically, the money raised from this event will be going towards Portsmouth Cultural Trust’s L&P programme, the Portsmouth Music Experience (an exhibition run by volunteers and based in the Portsmouth Guildhall) and the Lord Mayor’s Charities.

Portsmouth Cultural Trust (PCT) are a charity that took over the managements of The Guildhall, a music, entertainment and events venue, from Portsmouth City Council in 2011.Our aim is to inspire, entertain and transform lives through the arts, and any profit we make is reinvested into providing free or subsidised local events, workshops and exhibitions, so that everyone has the opportunity to participate and enjoy arts and culture. We believe culture should be a part of everyone's lives, as it can:

  • Transform and enrich lives
  • Entertain, excite and provoke thought
  • Increase well-being
  • Teach us more about ourselves and the world we live in
  • Is fundamental to education, regeneration and social cohesion

With this in mind, we developed our Learning and Participation programme, to connect the community, especially those that are more likely to be disengaged due to disadvantage, to the arts and culture.

We have also recently launched our capital campaign which will see a 10 year redevelopment of the Guildhall.
