Portsmouth Celebrates Exceptional Refugee Artists During Journeys Festival International

10th - 22nd October 2016

Portsmouth will host a wide range of innovative and entertaining activity from exceptional refugee artists. From 10th – 22nd October, Journeys Festival International will showcase work exploring the refugee experience. From extraordinary theatre, an outdoor gallery, Coffee Shop Conversations, pop up theatre and art the city will celebrate the artistic talent and incredible stories of refugee artists and asylum seekers. Produced by Leicester based ArtReach, the festival intends to share great art, raise awareness of refugee experiences and create conversation within the community through arts and culture.

There will be a preview evening for the exhibition on Wednesday 21st September, beginning at 7pm, Ray Foulk will be giving an author talk with questions and answers, a book signing and be showing a short film. There will also be a performance by guest of honour Nik Turner, (Hawkwind), and a licenced bar.

The Isle Of Wight Festival Exhibition, 1968, 1969, 1970, Opens On September 22nd. And Will Run Until October 2017 And Is The First Major Exhibition About Those Legendary Festivals In The 48 Years Since The First In 1968. The New Exhibition Coincides With The Publication Of, When The World Came To The Isle Of Wight – THE LAST GREAT EVENT, The Second Book By Ray Foulk (Festivals Organiser) Recalling Those Momentous Events. Nigel Grundy (PME Curator) And Ray Foulk Have Co-Authored, The 1968, 1969 And 1970, Isle Of Wight Festival Experience, A New Publication To Accompany The Exhibition That Displays Posters, Photographs, Artifacts, Ephemera And Memorabilia From Those Three Isle Of Wight Festivals.

Rio comes to Portsmouth

Portsmouth Music Hub's First Cultural Carnival

A taste of Rio came to Portsmouth on Friday 6 July when 10 schools and 1000 primary-aged children came to the Guildhall Square in Portsmouth with drums, streamers, flags and whistles. The children were there for Portsmouth's very first Cultural Carnival.

Funding of £3,000 will be available to support one emerging musician over an 8 month period

BBC Music Day is a UK-wide celebration of everything we love about music with the aim of bringing people from different generations and communities together, so come along to the Portsmouth Guildhall for a day of celebrating, enjoyment and learning. This year the Portsmouth Cultural Trust and the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra have partnered to deliver an exciting day, suitable for all of the family to get involved. From a Family Orchestra with the BSO to singing workshops for 55+, a vegetable orchestra, open rehearsal and tour of the building, there is something for everyone.

The EVOLVE Family workshops are specialist creative sessions for children with Autism and SEN and their families. The monthly sessions are led by practicing artists and supported by an occupational therapist. Sessions for children with Autism run from 11am - 12.30pm and for children with SEN from 1.30 - 3pm.
