“Back in the days when the Guildhall was a building full of council staff, who would have thought that one day it would be managed by a Cultural Trust who would open it up for community events and allow a large exhibition area dedicated to local music, clubs, pubs and venues, a 9' painted roundel and a Lambretta TV 175 on display on the first floor? But that is what has happened."

Portsmouth Guildhall management, the Portsmouth Cultural Trust (PCT), today announced a new partnership with The Southern Co-operative. that will see £50,000 of funding support provided to their new programme “Get Into Music, Portsmouth”. Following the success of last year’s Southsea Show the Portsmouth Cultural Partnership is thrilled to announce that the biggest family weekend of the summer will this year be spread over three days instead of two. From Friday 1st to Sunday 3rd August 2014 Southsea Common will become a fun-packed showground with entertainment for the whole family by day, alongside the brand new Southsea Comedy Festival on site in the Big Top by night.
Organisers of the Southsea Comedy Festival and Southsea Show just announced that an additional 120 tickets have been made available at a discounted rate for the sold out Eddie Izzard performance on Friday 1st August. Tickets will be sold at a discounted rate of £34, and 10% of the proceeds will go to McMillan Nurses, Eddie’s charity of choice.
Comedian Russell Kane is to replace Rich Hall at the Southsea Comedy Festival’s ‘Live in the Big Top’ show on Saturday 2nd August.

The Portsmouth Guildhall Square and surrounding area is set to open as an outdoor festival venue with its first showcase being the Portsmouth Street Games on 31st May and 1st June, organised by the Portsmouth Cultural Trust and Big Adventures.
In recognition of legendary guitarist Mick Jones’ contribution to rock music he will be bestowed with the Portsmouth Cultural Trust’s highest honours by being the first person to be inducted into the Portsmouth Guildhall’s new Wall of Fame on Wednesday 9th April.
