Week long work experience placements for Year 10 & 11 and college students

Work Experience

The Portsmouth Cultural Trust offers one week work experience placements in the Guildhall to year 10 and 11 pupils from schools across the area, as well as colleges.
We particularly welcome applications from students who express a passion for working in the Music or Arts and Cultural sector, and can express this clearly in their application.
If you are particularly interested in the Technical side of the Music Industry, please see our Get into Music Opportunities page, as these placements may be more appropriate.
We provide a programme of work that offers a broad experience across the venue’s departments, giving students a good overview of the different roles of these departments and the staff who work within them. The weeks that we are able to offer experience in and the departments within them, is determined by both the venues schedule and weeks that are usually required by most schools. Places are limited.
Application and Equal Opportunities Monitoring forms are available to download at the bottom of the page.
PLEASE NOTE:
Applications MUST be sent by the person wishing to undertake work experience; we will not consider applications sent by teachers, parents/ carers or external personnel.
We do not accept CV’s or covering letters. If either of these are submitted, you will not be considered for a placement. If you have any difficulties in completing these, please contact Hayley Reay, Learning and Participation Coordinator at hayley.reay@portsmouthguildhall.org.uk
Please ensure that your application is sent at least 2 months before your required start date.
We will interview potential students either in person or via telephone. The application and interview process will not only ensure that we are providing a fair and consistent practice, it will also provide you with the opportunity to gain valuable experience for applying for jobs in the future.
Please return both forms completed to hayley.reay@portsmouthguildhall.org.uk or by post to Hayley Reay, Portsmouth Cultural Trust, Portsmouth Guildhall, Guildhall Square, Portsmouth, Hampshire, PO1 2AB.
Due to the large number of applications we receive, we are unable to contact all unsuccessful candidates. If you have not heard from us 1 week after submitting your application, unfortunately you have not been successful.
