The Trust's Learning and Participation work

Over the past two years, the Learning and Participation work has become embedded within the ethos of the Portsmouth Cultural Trust. We believe that music has the power to transform lives and aim to inspire, excite and educate people through our work.

Through generous sponsorship from the Southern Co-operative, the programme has been able to develop and grow, with all activities now being united under the ‘Guildhall Participate’ umbrella.

The next two years will see the Guildhall Participate work focus on 4 key strands of activity, to encourage increased music appreciation, improve levels of music participation and to ensure a diverse audience has access to our activities. These key strands will be:

Overcoming barriers to access
Schools
Skills development and supporting emerging artists
Increasing public engagement with cultural activities

From Skiffle to circus, singing to technical, watching to participating, we aim to create an environment that enables people to learn and develop through, as well as in, music, art and culture.

We have an array of areas for people to get involved in, have a look through our website to see what interests you or for more information on any of our projects, or how you can get involved, contact our Learning and Participation Manager:
