James Burrill is an accomplished musician come singer-songwriter and at 18 years old he was born and bred in Southsea. He has recently been making large strides with his music having just come off a south coast tour with his band, Sweetener, and selling out their coming home headline gig at the Edge of the Wedge. However, in hopes of reaching new audiences and furthering his and the band’s horizons, he has turned his head towards some solo work and hopes to excite listeners with acoustic arrangements offering a musical introspection on experience. He and the band continue to work with Local Music Scene to push music from Portsmouth into the mainstream and picture themselves as future cover stars of bands in Portsmouth.
James brings a huge variety to all of his music with genres ranging from indie, slacker rock, grunge and some britpop. His songs encompass backgrounds from all walks of life, some demonstrate a yearning to make it big in the industry and others just wanting to be heard by anyone. James hopes this year will be huge for himself and Sweetener, who share a desire to make music their lives. They’re all still in their teens and with new music being recorded and ready to be shared soon who knows what lies ahead for them…
