Guildhall Introducing Acoustic Sessions is an evening of live acoustic music, performed by four great young artists. Featuring local talents Robyn Grace, Lewis Smith, Richard Morris and Sasha Matthissen, showcased in Portsmouth Guildhall's Harlequin Room.
This event is associated with our Guildhall Introduding free lunch time performance series.
Robyn Grace is pop and dance artist, songwriter and singer from Portsmouth. With her debut album release planned for Summer 2017, Robyn Grace is currently performing acoustic versions of her music at gigs locally, as well as further afield. Robyn was trained classically and has previously worked with the BBC, as well as with Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, as a backing singer. After working on her own album for a year, Robyn's debut of her new music is not to be missed!
Lewis Smith is a 16 year old singer-songwriter from Hampshire, UK. Whilst performing anything from the 50s up to current chart music, there isn't much he won't perform. He also writes his own material and last year released a four track EP, which he performs at many of his weekly gigs! For being just 16 years old, Lewis has already built up a name for himself and even performed at Icebreaker, Victorious, Southsea fest and many more festivals in and around the South. Lewis is performing twice at the Guildhall on March 18th for the Beating Heart charity event. He has recently been on a South Coast tour performing at Brighton, Southampton, Portsmouth, Winchester and Guildford. Lewis has appeared twice on BBC Introducing, sang live on Express FM, hosted a show on The Flash radio and was even interviewed on the local tv station That's Solent. Lewis has accomplished so much over the last two years and has many more great opportunities ahead of him.
Richard Morris is a independent singer-songwriter from Portsmouth. He has recently released his brand new EP "Stay Alive" to much acclaim. Championed by the likes of BBC Introducing he was crowned "BBC Introducing Artist of the Week" on Georgey Tonight, the national BBC evening show with an estimated 1.3 million listeners. Richard first won over fans with his summery debut EP "Await the Sunset" and after completing a headline European tour, was the first ever artist to perform in the BBC Radio Solent Live Lounge.
His gritty and soulful songwriting has already seen him headlining stages at Portsmouth's own Victorious Festival and sharing stages with the likes of Little Comets, Youth Club, Guvna B and Skinny Living. Having achieved so much already we're sure that 2017 will be the biggest year yet for the young singer-songwriter.
Sasha Matthissen is a 21 year old southern based acoustic folk UK artist drawing influences from the likes of Lucy Rose, Lissie & Carole King. Sasha is self taught on piano & guitar and began writing music at the age of fourteen. She later went on to study music full time at South Downs College. Her sound can be described as a deep powerful vocal blended with rich melodies. She has performed up and down the south coast for the past 6 years participating in many local festivals and charity events.
