Paul Parsons: The Portsmouth and Proud Collection

In this exhibition, the Urban Gallery UK delves into the world of music with their collection of new artwork that celebrates Portsmouth Guildhall's rich musical history. Moving across many musical decades through the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and beyond, the exhibition highlights the artists that have performed at the Guildhall from Johnny Cash, David Bowie, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones and many more.

Aspex Guildhall are delighted to present a selection of hand printed concert memorabilia by the South Coast’s Petting Zoo prints and collectables. Aspex has known Petting Zoo for some time, and we have long talked about collating an exhibition of their work and here, at long last, it is. Originally from Portsmouth, now based in Brighton, Petting Zoo produce posters, record sleeves and more for sometimes obscure and always diverse, events, bands and solo artists. MERCH is an opportunity to see and enjoy many of their gigposters together in one place.

Illustrated Menagerie: Shakespeare's Animals

A group exhibition of work by first year BA (Hons) Illustration students at the School of Art and Design, University of Portsmouth. 47 first year students have worked together to produce artwork to form this collaborative piece. The group created a scroll illustrating the animals of Shakespeare attempting to instill the illustrations with something of the spirit Shakespeare intended. The imagery reflects the range of exploration of media and imagery to convey the creatures and is varied as the animals themselves.

This exhibition charts his progress from his first band in the 1960s, to his work with The Boomtown Rats, Duran Duran; his 30 year association with Queen, plus the launch of his all-star band, The SAS Band and more.

Guildhall: A Moment in Time

The Portsmouth Room will host a selection of archive images of the Guildhall from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Reproduced from the collections of Portsmouth Museum', highlights include the moment the Guildhall's foundation stone was laid and a visit from the future Edward VIII. We also reveal the interior of the building decorated for grand banquets and vast crowds gathering for parades and other major events.

BSO: The Orchestra for the 21st Century Exhibition

London-based photographer Eric Richmond has worked with Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra annually as part of their rebrand for the past three years. This new look which integrates the photos into the main season brochure and other publicity materials, focuses on the musicians of the BSO who are much loved by their audiences across the South and South West of England.

Portsmouth Talent Development Programme

Working with partner organisations we aim to build upon existing platforms and to explore new opportunities which will encourage new work, touring, artist development, mentoring and best practise.
